Vegan footwear brand Della Terra was born from a need of contemporary footwear with a sustainable mindset. Ethical and inclusive values are at the forefront of this brand, which offers evergreen essentials to fit any style. The brand has been featured in Forbes, GLAMOUR, Popsugar and many others.
After receiving her Master of Fine Arts in Fashion Design from the Academy of Art University in San Francisco, native New Yorker Emily Landsman Archila had a career in corporate footwear design for sixteen years, designing for fashion brands such as Alice + Olivia, Diane von Furstenberg, Vera Wang, Vince Camuto, Via Spiga, Clarks and many other household names. In 2021, she launched Della Terra, which is currently headquartered in Cape Cod and Boston.
“Veganism is perhaps the most important thing we can do to work towards sustainability. Della Terra has never and will never use any animal products of any kind. We also see vegan production as a major step towards sustainability, because the leather industry is a huge source of heavy and dangerous chemical processes. In addition to being vegan, we are incredibly conscious of the chemical impact of our production.”
Della Terra uses 100% vegan materials that are comprised of a mix of bio-based textiles – renewable plant materials such as grapeseed, castor oil and pineapple – and recycled materials, also incorporating renewable bamboo fibres. The label's bio-based vegan leather comes from Italy and is developed using production processes designed for low environmental impact – reducing the waste of water, electricity and gas. The durability of the shoes has been measured against the most stringent of testing to guarantee quality on par with animal-leather shoes. The threads used by Della Terra are certified by the Global Recycled Standard (GRS).
Della Terra works with carbon-neutral factories located in Brazil. These factories use clean energy sources from wind and hydroelectric sources, while consuming zero fossil fuels.
Della Terra insists that all its factories provide proof of fair wage. Della Terra also works with factories that have diversity and inclusion programs.
All Della Terra packaging is made from 100% post-consumer recycled cardboard. It is also Forest Stewardship-Certified. The brand ships its shoes in the original shoebox, so as to eliminate additional packaging in shipping. All shipping is also carbon neutral.
Della Terra is proud to be PETA-Approved Vegan brand.
