Shaker

Shaker, which “shakes things up" in the fashion industry, is a London-based vegan accessory brand creating timeless fashion accessories from the most innovative sustainable materials on the market. With a purpose is to inspire and lead positive change in the fashion industry, Shaker (then called Luxtra) achieved B Corp status in 2020 and was named One to Watch in the Drapers Sustainable Fashion Awards 2020 and 2021. The brand was also a runner-up in the 2019 Sustainable Lifestyle Awards, in the Accessory Brand of the Year category. The company donates a minimum 2% of their yearly revenue to charity.

Founder

Even before becoming a sustainable fashion entrepreneur, Jessica Kruger was devoted to promoting ethical living and the shift towards a meat-free, cruelty-free world. She co-founded vegetarian restaurant Ethos in central London, before moving on to fashion and inspiring the industry to go cruelty-free by launching Shaker.

“There is no way I would be complicit in animal cruelty. I want to show people that you can make beautiful products without cruelty and archaic practices. ” 

 Materials

To stay cruelty-free and sustainably minded, Shaker champions the innovative plastic-free plant leather Mirum, created by Natural Fiber Welding. The label is aiming to work more towards a circular production system to further amplify its sustainability efforts.

People

Jessica herself visits the brand's suppliers and manufacturers, having conversations regarding modern slavery and labour standards to ensure a fair treatment of workers. The company also obtains a modern slavery statement from their suppliers.

Production

Shaker manufactures entirely in Italy, where almost all their raw materials are also produced. The brand is working on obtaining further transparency into the processes around their raw materials, especially regarding the extraction and cultivation of these materials. The brand also ensures that no plastic is used in its orders with the supplier.

Packaging

All packaging is recycled and recyclable, and the outer packaging is reusable.
