Soybean Bags
Combining style with functionality, Soybean Bags offers versatile designs which can be adapted into a variety of styles, to suit any occasion – and all without an ounce of animal skin.
“I was initially inspired by problem-solving. Now I see inspiration for designing in everyday objects.”
About the Founder
While working as a lawyer in London, Julie Dolan struggled with the number of bags she had to carry to work. After being diagnosed with diabetes, she found herself needing to carry sweets for low blood sugar and insulin for high blood sugar, along with her everyday belongings like her phone and wallet. While walking to lunch, she didn't want to bring her entire work backpack – but no other bags would fit the essentials she needed.
Julie realised that this was not necessarily a diabetic's problem, but an issue of contemporary living. Whether you are going to the office, lunch, a concert after work or yoga, you need a bag that adjusts to your life. So Julie created a vegan bag that would do just that – adapt, through versatility and multiple styles.
Materials
Soybean Bags source their materials from Italy – the high-quality polyurethane doesn't scratch or peel, and is long-lasting and durable. The lining of each bag is made from organic cotton.
People
Julie thoroughly researches her suppliers to ensure ethical practices are followed.
Production
The bags are produced locally in London – this way, waste is minimised and transport is not needed.
Packaging
All Soybean Bags packaging is recyclable – a key concern for the brand is eco-conscious packaging.
Animals
Working with animal leather never came into question for Julie. From the start, she set out to make a luxury vegan design, and she looks forward to experimenting with plant-based vegan leathers.
