These are the most frequently asked questions about vegan bags:
Traditionally, synthetic petroleum-based faux leathers such as polyurethane (PU) have been used to make vegan bags. Increasingly, vegan bags, especially premium ones, are made using plant-based vegan leathers made from plants and fruit such as apple, cactus, or pineapple. Other natural ingredients like cork can be used to make vegan bags.
As with any category, quality can vary. However, at Immaculate Vegan we take care to only select high-quality, premium vegan leather bags. Good-quality vegan leather is similar to animal leather with not much difference between the two, other than the obvious fact that no animals are harmed in the production of vegan bags!
Vegan leather bags can be just as hard-wearing, durable and long-lasting as the animal equivalent. Choose a plant-based vegan leather like corn leather, apple leather or cactus leather for a feel similar to animal skin and keep in mind that vegan leather bags are much more eco-friendly too.
Clean your vegan leather bag just like you would its animal equivalent.
Just add a little washing-up liquid to some warm water and wipe with a non-abrasive cloth. Ideally then dry off with a separate microfibre cloth. This will keep your vegan bag looking as good as new.
We like to think we have some of the best vegan bag brands - including Frida Rome, LaBante, LUXTRA and Alkeme Atelier. The best vegan bag brands tend to be made with high-quality plant-based vegan leathers so look for leather made from corn, cactus, apples, grapes, or pineapples.
