What is bio-acetate?
This kinder to the environment material is made with plasticisers from renewable sources rather than oil-based ones. By changing these chemicals into biodegradable plasticisers, the entire material becomes plant based, can break down, and as a result is better for our planet. Plus, it reduces our reliance on non-renewable resources.
- Biodegradable, plant-based acetate frame, which means it's plastic free!
- Polarised anti-glare and anti-scratch lens
- 100% UVA/UVB protection

About the Founder
Placing altruism at the heart of his work, founder John Pritchard is the force behind this sunglasses brand with a conscience. Following more than two decades in advertising, including a career as a creative at Microsoft, John conceptualised a brand that would hold greater purpose; one that would address the imbalance he saw in the world.
John has always had a passion for adventure and travel. It was during his travels that he became aware of the problems surrounding the lack of eye care in various some of the countries he had visited in Africa. He launched Pala in 2016, with a mission to give back by enabling better vision for those most in need.
“Our ambition is clear: to create better vision and empowerment for those most in need.”
The sunglasses themselves are crafted from a biodegradable bio-acetate made in Italy by heritage manufacturers Mazzucchelli. Every pair comes with UVA/UVB protection as usual, but now with polarised lenses to reduce glare and an anti-scratch coating for use in activities or near water, making getting outdoors even easier. They come in a case made from recycled plastic waste.
First-tier suppliers for Pala all sign a code of conduct. Championing the stories of the humans who make their products, Pala is also B Corp certified, which tasks them with special attention to their supply chain.
Proceeds from the sale of every pair of are used to support eye-care programmes across Africa with charity partner, Vision Aid Overseas. Over 8,000 people have already benefited from these grants and their ability to earn an income enhanced through receiving a pair of spectacles.
Furthering each product’s unique story, Pala works alongside a Ghanaian-based NGO to support weaving communities from the remote Upper East region of the country to make their protective sunglasses cases. Woven using traditional methods utilising otherwise wasted plastic, the brand helps to provide a trade and an income, strengthening the future of these rural communities. These cases made from recycled plastic waste have already prevented 4.5 tonnes going to landfill.
In 2021 the brand moved to small-batch production to eliminate overproduction and overstock. Pala also has a take-back scheme for our UK customers, meaning that they will take back any old frames from customers and arrange for them to be responsibly recycled through Terracycle.
The sunglasses are packaged in cardboard from responsible sources, then mailed in envelopes made from 100% recycled paper and recyclable with mixed paper.
Pala is a vegan-friendly brand, and making an animal-friendly product is an integral part of their process. All inks used throughout the product chain are vegan.
As a marketplace, we sell over 100 beautiful vegan and sustainable brands – but we don’t hold stock, so when you order a product from us, the item gets shipped from the brand itself. This eliminates needless carbon emissions and use of resources from not having to have the item packaged and shipped to us, and then repackaged and shipped out again to the customer; and not having to run major warehouse operations in addition to those of our brands.
If you have purchased multiple items from different brands at the same time, each item will be sent separately and directly from each individual brand.
Immaculate Vegan is therefore not directly responsible for the delivery of items purchased on our site. Responsibility for this is passed to the brand, once the purchase has been made and payment has been collected by us. However, we manage all customer communications, so if you have any issues with delivery of your item, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org
Delivery Destinations and Costs
We currently ship to the following territories : Europe, North America (US, Canada, and Mexico), Australia, New Zealand, Israel, UAE, Hong Kong, and Japan.
Note : Each of our brands select which countries in the world they deliver to, and they set their own delivery costs for each country (which will vary). If this is not clearly stated on the individual product page, then you will be able to check in the shopping bag before proceeding to payment.
Our brands also select their own couriers, which may also differ by country.
Delivery and Promotions
If you use a promotional code, the reduction is usually applied only to the price of the product and not the delivery cost.
Customs Duties / Import Taxes
Your order may be subject to duties or taxes upon arrival into your country based on where you live. You are responsible for paying any duties or taxes that apply. These are government-imposed duties that we have no control over as a retailer. Should you require more information, please contact your local customs office.
Depending on the postal services used by the brand, you will have either an option to pay any additional fees online by following the tracking number available once order is shipped or directly to your courier upon delivery. NB: you will be required to pay these import taxes before your order will be released to you.
Unfortunately, if you fail to pay any charges and the parcel is returned to sender, we will not be able to refund your order.
Once you have ordered one or more items from Immaculate Vegan, the relevant brand will be immediately notified by Immaculate Vegan. This initiates the processing of your order, and ultimately delivery to you.
We ask our brands to send items to you as quickly and as cost efficiently as possible. Please bear in mind that products ordered from countries far away from your location will likely take longer to get to you.
A delivery confirmation email from Immaculate Vegan will be sent to you as soon as the order has been sent. This email will contain a tracking number and the date the brand dispatched the item.
If you want to know the status of your delivery, please use the tracking number and link in this delivery confirmation email. This is the easiest and quickest way for you to get this information.
If a brand is experiencing a high volume of orders, or other factors such as poor weather or postal strikes, delivery may be delayed by a few days.
If you experience a delivery issue which has not been resolved by the brand, please contact us and we will do our best to resolve this.

Please see our Returns Policy
We hope you love the items you buy from us; we take the utmost care in ensuring our goods are of a high quality. Additionally, as shipping goods has an environmental impact, we hope to minimise returns by giving you as much information as possible about each product.
However, we understand that from time to time things might not be quite what you expected. So here is our policy and instructions if you ever need to return a product:
Immaculate Vegan is a multi-brand marketplace. That means we offer products from different brands based in different countries. So you need to return your item directly to the brand supplier, not to Immaculate Vegan.
If you want to return an item, you need to inform Immaculate Vegan, rather than the brand. Please email us at email@example.com. You have 14 days to inform us of your desire to return an item, and then a further 14 days from the date you notify us to send back the item.
All items returned must be in their original condition – unused, unworn, unwashed, in the original packaging and with original labels and any hygiene stickers attached. All beauty products must be unopened, with all seals in place. Unfortunately, our suppliers will not be able to accept any items that fail to meet these criteria.
Many of our suppliers don’t include a returns slip in the package itself for environmental reasons; so if you don't find a returns address and returns information in your package, please don't worry. Just email us at firstname.lastname@example.org, and we will send you a returns slip with the returns address for that brand.
What can be returned?
Any item – regular priced or sale price – may be returned and refunded. This includes items purchased with a promotional or discount code.
However, any custom-made / made to order products cannot be returned and refunded.
If the supplier offers free returns, a Free Post sticker or code will be included in the packaging.
If the supplier does not offer free returns, you are responsible for packaging up the item and posting it back at your own cost. In this instance, we recommend a signed-for delivery with proof of postage.
The exception to this is when the item is faulty, in which case the brand is responsible for paying for costs of returning the item. Please inform us if you receive a faulty item as soon as possible, by emailing email@example.com.
Any delivery costs or import taxes you may have had to pay to receive an item cannot be refunded by us upon the return of that item.
You are responsible for any item being returned until it arrives back at the supplier.
It is your responsibility to fill out any customs declaration form correctly. When filling in the customs declaration form, please consult with your post office personnel how to declare a return exempt from import duties. Otherwise the brand may be charged customs import taxes, which they will deduct from your refund amount.
Processing your return
Once your returned item is received and inspected, the supplier will notify us, and we will then send you an email confirming this. We will also notify you of the approval or rejection of your refund.
If your return is approved, your refund will be processed. We aim to refund you as soon as we can, once your returned item has been processed by the supplier.
We are legally obliged to ensure your money is refunded within 14 working days of receipt of the returned goods in saleable condition.
Please note that original shipping costs are not refundable unless the delivered item is faulty.
Most of our brand partners allow exchanges, although some only offer a return and refund. If you wish to have an exchange, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
If you have had to pay import duty on a purchase, then you may be able to reclaim that from your local tax office, if you return the goods. Immaculate Vegan is not responsible for any additional customs and taxes applied to an order.
Returns & Damages
Immaculate Vegan is not liable for any items damaged or lost during delivery. If this does occur, please let us know and we will contact the brand and then follow up with you.

We aim to process your refund within than 5 days.
Any custom-made or made-to-order products cannot be cancelled.
