Here are some of our favourite brands that cater to the crowd that covet eco-friendly, easy-to-wear sneakers. What they have in common? They get creative to make their production as kind to the environment as possible - but without compromising on style.

Kumi Sneakers

Blending comfort with sustainability, Kumi Sneakers are made locally in Spain,  in a factory run by solar power. Recycled materials are used alongside bio-based vegan leathers to craft a sneaker that's as wearable as it is ethical.

Cog

This French label offers a vast range of cruelty-free footwear, made from Italian grape leather Vegea, as well as cork and recycled materials. The brand's designs are produced in Portugal, and they also produce a range of formal vegan shoes.

Corail

Sea-saving French brand Corail was created by long-time friends Alexis Troccaz and Paul Guedj, who were on holiday in Marseille when they noticed the rubbish in the sea - and decided to do something about it. Now, their company employs a crew in Marseille to collect plastic from the ocean, which the company then uses to create their colourful, versatile shoes.

Bahé

Looking for a functional, sustainable running shoe? You've found it. Using natural rubber, sugarcane and corn,  Bahé have managed to create a range of fully vegan, Earth-conscious sneakers that are as perfect for the running track as they are for a relaxed off-duty weekend walk.

Zeta Shoes

PVC-free brand Zeta Shoes offers a collection of sneakers made from recycled, vegan and recyclable materials, with a focus on transparency in the production supply chain. Down to the smallest detail, Zeta takes care to ensure that their materials are vegan - even their glues are made from recycled latex.

Humans Are Vain

This contemporary vegan footwear brand from Sweden specialises in innovative production - polyester made from up-cycled ocean trash, recycled rubber and recycled cotton are some of the materials that feature in their collection. To promote circularity in the fashion system, the brand allows consumers to hand in their used sneakers to be transformed into new products.

Ration.L

Ration.L is a gender-neutral vegan brand creating streetwear such as hoodies and beanies, but their focus is on their range of planet-friendly sneakers in a range of colours from black to soft pastels. The brand's sleek and sophisticated vegan designs have earned Ration.L spots in VOGUE and The Observer.
