1 People is a global sustainable luxury brand which aims to provide conscious fashionistas with high-quality everyday apparel. The brand has been featured in British VOGUE and carries the OEKO-TEX and GOTS certifications. The company has given funding to charities including Yayasan Solemen Indonesia, Hope Business For Good, and The Sumba Foundation.
Founders
1 People was founded by Rea and Jonathan Tjoa Algreen, a Danish couple who believe in making an impact through business. Rea has always had a passion for sustainability, and with Jonathan's many years of experience growing and investing in socially beneficial businesses, the duo united their strengths to create a unique fashion offering. Rea spotted a gap in the market where women’s fashion didn’t tick all the boxes of style, sustainability and comfort – and 1 People was born.
“We aim to be cruelty-free, so we constantly do our research on innovative textiles that come from natural plant sources. ”
Materials
The brand prioritises materials that are kind to the Earth, animals and humans – such as pineapple leather and leather made from wine grapes. 1 People also uses PYRATEX, a seaweed-based fibre from the North Atlantic, which helps eliminate free radicals, caring for the wearer's skin. Organic cotton and Tencel are other materials the brand frequently works with.
People
Workers in 1 People's supply chain are paid a living wage. Diversity and inclusion is also important to the brand.
Production
The manufacturing process takes place in a variety of countries, including India, Indonesia and China. 1 People maintains a close relationship with their manufacturing partners to ensure transparency.
Packaging
1 People's packaging is made from recycled paper made in Bali – with the aim to empower local communities where the brand operates.
Animals
The brand aims to be cruelty-free and invests a lot of time into researching innovative vegan materials such as seaweed fibre, creating capsule collections around these textiles.
