This brand manufactures in the EU. As a result of EU/UK free trade agreements, there are no import duties on delivery to the UK or to any EU country. US customers do not pay any import duties on orders below $800.

About the Founders
After being inspired by his shoemaker father and his seamstress mother, Sebastian Szypula established the first vegan streetwear in his native Poland in 2013 – and in 2018, Sebastian and his partner, Wiola, launched the country's first-ever shoes made with pineapple leather. They followed this up with using leather made from wine and cactus, and in 2020 joined Vegan Fashion Week among its many forward-thinking brands.

Materials
Bohema create their collections using innovative plant materials. The brand was the first in the world to create shoes made of Desserto cactus leather, and the first in Poland to create shoes made of vegetable leather such as Pinatex pineapple leather, apple leather or Vegea grape leather – innovative alternatives to animal hides, which are also kinder to the environment.

People
Passion for craftsmanship has been passed down through generations in the founders' family. Bohema collections are handcrafted by their parents and friendly local family manufacturers. As the brand has developed, they've expanded our production to other facilities – but always staying local, to enable them to rely on the experience and craftsmanship of local craftspeople. All employees are provided with the best working conditions and health and safety regulations, and are paid fairly.

Production
The company creates its shoes in a solar-powered facility. To further promote sustainability in their supply chain, the label makes their prototypes in one size only, only houses a minimum inventory and operates via a pre-order model where a large part of production takes place after orders are placed. This minimises waste and avoids overproduction. The founders themselves commute to work by bike or public transport.

Packaging
All printed materials are made with recycled paper, and plastic is eliminated from Bohema's packaging.

Animals
Care for animals and the environment have been key values for the brand from its inception – Bohema believes that fashion should be about self-expression, not the suffering of animals, who are a part of this world as important as humans. Bohema aims to show that fashion can and must care about people, animals and the planet, without exploiting anyone. This is why the label is vegan.
