Good Guys Don't Wear Leather
Founded in 2011 by Marion Hanania, a French shoe designer, artist and animal lover, Good Guys were the first 100% vegan footwear company in France, and have since developed their collections year on year so that now they have one of the vegan best ranges available. They have many fans, including the actor Emma Watson and the singer Miley Cyrus.
Where they’re made
Good Guys are sweatshop-free, with all their shoes made in Portugal in a fair-trade environment
Materials
All the materials they use for their shoes are eco-friendly and sustainable. They use mostly microfibres that are also called vegan leather or vegan suede, which are made in Portugal, Spain and Italy by certified manufacturers; and some styles also make use of canvas, and natural rubber and wood for the soles.
For their FW 18-19 collection they introduced a zero CO2 emissions vegan leather made in Italy, using polymers derived from cereals and vegetable seeds, a natural, renewable source (and from “No Food” Agriculture).
And for their FW 19-20 collection they added an award-winning vegan leather made using apple skin. This revolutionary new material is also made in Italy and uses the skin and core waste of apples recovered from the food industry. It contains a minimum of 50% apple fibre and was the winner of the 2018 Technology and Innovation Award at the Green Carpet Fashion Awards in Milan.
They are heading towards being 100% recyclable in 2021, and using the strongest, most sustainable and eco-friendly materials they can find is their number 1 focus.
