Durable and built to last, Rive Claire vegan handbags hold timeless appeal. With particular attention to detail and a desire to create from environmentally friendly materials, the brand is gaining accolades: it has won a PETA Fashion Award for its cruelty-free designs.
Audrey Nussbaumer has been passionate about handbags since a young age, as her mother managed a leather-goods shop and she grew up among bags and accessories. In September 2020, she put her experience to good use by launching Rive Claire – she wished to use her experience in luxury to create a range that respected the environment.
“I have always appreciated beautiful bags and the know-how hidden in every detail. I therefore decided to launch the Rive Claire adventure born from a passion. I wanted to use my experience in luxury, to offer quality products that are in line with my environmental values.”
Keen to explore environmentally friendly vegan leathers, Rive Claire works with apple leather as well as solvent-free, water-based polyurethane. Linings are made from recycled and organic cotton, while natural rattan, raffia, and GOTS-certified cotton are also incorporated in the designs.
Rive Claire products are manufactured in Italy. The supplier of apple leather used by the brand is committed to using100% renewable energy, while the cotton supplier has several ecological certifications including Verified Carbon Standard and Integrated Pollution Prevention and Control.
All dust bags are made from GOTS-certified cotton. The paper used in the packaging is compostable and partly recycled. Soy-based ink is used in the printing process. The boxes are made from recycled cardboard and the brand uses a climate-compensation model to ensure the packaging is CO2-neutral.
Rive Claire is a PETA-Approved Vegan brand.
