The Best Eco-Friendly Dress Brands For Summer 2025
A summer dress is the unmistakable hot-weather uniform: from the versatile midi to a dramatic maxi style, a good selection of summer dresses will see you through the warm season - and the best designs will accompany you into autumn, with a layer on top. But let's not think about autumn yet. Instead, let's get into something much more enjoyable: sustainable summer dress shopping.

Firstly, fabric choices. The warmer months call for breathability, lightness, and ease of movement - look for soft cotton, as well as linen, Tencel, or cupro. Dresses are also a great occasion to choose sustainably made fabrics. Look for organic cotton if you can, as this choice minimises water waste and ensures that much fewer pesticides and chemical fertilisers are used in the production process, which is also kinder to the workers involved. By choosing vegan fashion, you're avoiding silk, which generates high volumes of greenhouse gases and has been linked to forced labour. Here are some brands we'll be coveting this season and beyond.
Albaray
Albaray's range of versatile, ethically made dresses has got us daydreaming - and we love the girl-power story behind the brand. Three women, all coming from a background in the fashion industry, came together to launch an ethical brand suited for modern lifestyles. Working with materials like ECOVERO viscose, responsibly sourced cotton, Tencel, and recycled polyester, the ladies behind Albaray have truly given us something to put on our wish lists. Look for detailing such as puff sleeves, subtle ruffles, polka dots and leopard print for a dressed-up take on summer style.
Baukjen
We totally see why celebs such as Sarah Jessica Parker and Alexa Chung have been spotted wearing Baukjen's contemporary romantic designs. This certified B Corp brand is the master of the dress - and their hot-weather offering doesn't disappoint. Patterned maxis in sustainably made ECOVERO viscose, versatile organic-cotton midis, and crochet styles in Lyocell are just some of summer's greatest hits from this ethically minded brand. Add colour to your outfit repertoire by choosing one of Baukjen's punchy reds or soft blues - or go all-out with a summer-themed floral print.

BIBICO
Comfortable cottons, breezy linens, soft hemp, and other natural materials are the foundation of UK-based brand BIBICO's thoughtful slow-fashion range. Perfect for daytime, this brand's loose-fitting, breathable dresses will accompany you throughout summer. Go for a duck-egg blue or a forest green, adding a crisp white sneaker for a carefree warm-weather look.
Amour Linen
Linen is perhaps the most summer-friendly fabric there is, thanks to its breathability and lightness. Flax, the fibre that linen is made from, is kind to the environment – it doesn't need much water to grow, and the process of weaving it into linen isn't energy-intensive. Amour Linen focuses on this fabric in a range of homeware and apparel, including dresses. Wear one of their styles with sneakers for a casual appeal or team with a subtle heel for warm summer nights.
As always, make sure you buy to last. A good dress will last for many seasons to come, becoming a treasured friend in your wardrobe, something to come back to year after year.
